Ali Thompson is a distinguished national speaker who specializes in developing and presenting continuing education training on interactions with individuals with disabilities, as well as various specialized investigation techniques. With over 25 years of experience in law enforcement, focusing on crimes against at-risk individuals, Ali is a recognized expert in interactions with people with disabilities. Her deep professional and personal understanding of these issues allows Ali and PLCT to offer an unparalleled educational experience compared to other programs.
Ali’s presentations to first responders and public service professionals, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers and medical personnel, emphasize the importance of training on interactions with people with disabilities. She uses real-life examples to illustrate the legal and moral necessity for employers to equip their staff with the skills to recognize characteristics and behaviors of individuals with disabilities and to provide them with realistic and practical communication tools to peacefully resolve incidents where individuals may initially appear “non-compliant” due to their disabilities.
Ali’s speeches are consistently well received, and while they address challenging topics, they are infused with humor, understanding, and realistic perspectives on both sides of the issues.
Ali Thompson is a dynamic national speaker who delivers motivational speeches and develops continuing education training to enhance interactions with individuals with disabilities among public service professionals. Her motivational speeches inspire people to discover their passion, bravely work through trauma, embrace their differences, change their mindset, and fully live the amazing life they are destined for.
Ali’s life story is a remarkable example of overcoming tragedy, embracing one’s true self, and creating a life to be proud of. After college, Ali entered the field of law enforcement and was on her way to a long and successful career. However, in 2010, at the age of 35, she became a widow when her first husband, Travis, died from cancer. She was left with two young children with disabilities—a son who had just turned 3 and a daughter who was 16 months old—a house she couldn’t afford, and her husband’s plumbing business that she knew very little about.
Over the next decade, Ali faced financial hardship, mental health challenges, misdiagnoses and treatments, and the difficulties of raising two special needs children as a single mother. After giving up mental health treatment for several years and hitting an all-time low, during the pandemic, Ali decided to transform her life. Over the following five years, she worked hard through therapy and treatment, ultimately being diagnosed with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder in her 40s. By embracing her true self and understanding what she needed to be happy, Ali now enjoys a joyful and fulfilling life.
Ali is currently married to an incredible man, and they have a blended family with four wonderful children. She runs a successful business, travels the world with her husband, and is financially secure. Ali is incredibly positive (yet grounded and realistic) and, most importantly, happy. She openly shares her story with the desire to help everyone see how life transformation and joy is not only possible but what each and every person deserves.
